2010 First Day of School

Ellie starts the 3rd grade and Austin is going into 1st. We woke them up to Adam Sandler's "Lunch Lady Land", got them fed and dressed and then sent them on their way. I walked them to school their first day and it made me happy to know that Ellie still wanted me to walk into class with her on her first day. She still needs her mom! Austin on the other hand was saying hi to everyone in his class and didn't even notice me walking out the door. I hope it will be a successful year for everyone.

Cabin Trip 2010

Wow-3 posts in 2 days- I'm on a roll. This is what happens when kids go back to school and my once needy infant is now a toddler and can entertain herself. These are just a few picks of this past weekend up at the cabin. My Dad flew into town on Wednsday so we decided to stay up there for the weekend and go hiking and enjoy the cool crisp mountain air.

Mama's Garden

This is more of a brag post than anything. My mom is the most talented gardener. She combines substance with style in the most functionally whimsical way. She boarders her garden with cutting flowers and antique chairs, fences, and bird houses. The inside of her garden is broken up by planting box of all different sizes. Here she plants her tomatoes, strawberries, peppers, squash... that is functional- What makes it stylish and whimsical is the tunnel made out of the squash vines with a sandbox in it for the kids and a tee-pee made out of the bean vines. I can't describe it well enough to do it any justice, but here are a few pictures to show you all the hard work she puts into her garden.
